MISSION REVIVAL Inspired

New Construction

Reminiscent of the Spanish Franciscan missions of the 17th and 18th Centuries the Mission Revival style was part of the Arts and Crafts movement of the early part of the 20th Century.

Simple lines with smooth stucco walls, half rounded windows, and shallow sloped tile roofs define this architectural style.  Interiors often had curved corners, coved ceilings and archways, wood beams and clay tile floors.

Elements of the Mission Revival style are evident throughout this newly constructed (pre-mansionization ordinance) home: from the carved wood front door framed by a shallow archway to the decorative dark wooden corbels supporting the overhanging eaves.

Defining the salita de recepcion are high soffit ceilings accented with richly stained crown molding in place of the heavy wood beams found in a traditional Mission Revival home.  Interior windows are framed with richly stained molding that compliment the polished travertine floors gracing the entire Premier piso.

Arches, arches, arches are a Mission Revival statement found in the entry door, windows, formal dining room, center hallway and the family room/kitchen/breakfast area.

Like the salita de recepcion, soffit ceilings over the kitchen and family rooms are accented with richly stained crown molding.  Prepare a feast in the gourmet cook’s kitchen with huge center isle.  Eight burner cook top, two ovens, two dishwashers, and side by side refrigerator/freezer are part of the elaborate kitchen.  Solid maple cabinets are enriched by carved molding and frames. Lots of storage drawers and wine racks and two walk in pantries.

Elegant wrought iron handrails leading to the Segundo piso are a decorative element of the Mission Revival style as well as arched niches and windows.  Polished solid African walnut hardwood floors adorn the entire upper level.

Each of the five bedrooms is en-suite with bathrooms of distinctive inlaid slate and/or travertine tile walls and ceilings. All bedrooms are a generous size with more than ample walk-in closets. Double doors open into the sumptuous grand master suite that overlooks the slate patio with pool and spa.  There is a dual sided fireplace that adds warmth and a cozy feel in the sitting area on one side and spa tub on the other. The spacious walk-in closet features a center isle with additional drawers and storage.  A relaxing steam shower with double jets and “rain” shower head add a touch of luxury.

This Mission Revival inspired home is truly one of sophistication and grace.
